The Songs

Below are the songs I will be working my way through.  It will probably change.  A conspicuous absence of players like Steve Vai and Yngwie exist.  While I understand their value and the skill involved in playing with that level of speed and articulation, I don't enjoy listening to this kind of playing and I simply don't aspire to play like they play - thus, their absence.

I would have loved to include Robert Johnson.  But at this stage, his finger-picking style of playing is far from my current skill set - and I have no delusion that I would be able to master it even a little bit; hopefully, as I improve, I will gain the skills to take it on...as I would love nothing more than to be able to play semi-adequately in that style.  I have included Chet Atkins who will be equally difficult.  But, if I can gain a touch of his skills...I might just be able to give Robert Johnson a crack.

In general, I feel this is a good mix of songs that are within reach while also stretching my skill-set so that I see marked improvement in my skill as a player.
